Our best fundraising event to date!

On August 11th, we hosted our 4th Annual DimoStrong Jam at Imago. Each year, this is our marquee fundraising event with a mix of live music, breakdancing, art, food and graffitti all wrapped up into one unique experience. This year was especially exciting for all of us here at DimoStrong given that we broke all of our previous fundraising efforts and raised $6,000!

Even more important was the special guests we had attend the Jam. Two years ago, we established the DimoStrong Family Assistance Fund at Rush University Medical Center.  Establishing this fund was a huge goal of our organization as we’ve always been driven to help other families who are seeking a diagnosis and treatment of an autoimmune disease. We were excited, proud and honored to have the Martinez family attend the Jam as they were able to take advantage of the fund while under the care of Dr. Mary Tobin at Rush University Medical Center. Along with the Martinez’ was Dr. Tobin and members of the Philanthropy department.  The team at Rush has been instrumental in allowing us to reach our goals and it was great to have them attend.

The centerpiece event at the Jam was the B-boy contest where dancers competed for a $400 first prize. We felt so inspired when the winner donated half of his winnings back to DimoStrong!  It was also great to have DJ Illanoize and EDouble back to DJ the event- they have supported DimoStrong the past three years and have become the backbone of the Jam. This year also featured our best art auction yet with Stephanie Kelley working with 16 local artists to donate artwork for the silent auction. And, of course, it could never be a DimoStrong Jam without performances by members of Watch City. The members, Andrew, Angrous and Sleepless, closed out the Jam with a set.  If that wasn’t enough, Joel painted a 60 foot long graffiti banner across the street from Imago, Legit Dogs & Ice was parked out front, and TasteeSweets had a table full of yummies!

A big Thank You to everyone who attended and for every donation we received before, during and after the event. As a team (meaning all of you!), we are making an impact and that’s exactly what we set out to do when we decided to honor Anthony and establish DimoStrong.
